4th of July

And I write as a lament for our laughing land as laughingstock - while our national economy, social sensibility, creative commitment, and ethical ethos succumb to excess of military-industrial complexity, decadent capitalism, and rampant bureaucracy that contrast poignantly with qualities of the cando America of our time at Episcopal, reasonably characterized by degrees of confidence, know-how, direction, production - and a degree of idealism approaching that in our Constitution and Bill of Rights - when we were considerably a land of the free and a home of the brave.
