Meeting Frank

One of the few American architects Frank sought out was Frank Lloyd Wright. Frank particularly admired Wright's later designs, which he thought exemplified a freedom and inventiveness lacking in much of modern architecture. Meeting Wright, however, as he wrote to Lurçat, proved to be a disappointment:

I also saw Frank Lloyd Wright and his work yesterday. He is a man of great imagination, he is seventy-six years and still working. Unfortunately, it is dificult to talk to him, he is too much of a nazi. The first thing he said to me was: "There is no difference between Roosevelt and Stalin."
