Mob Rule *

Plans were unveiled,
the press inform,
residents muttered their doubts and fears
at meetings.

A brace of councillors
voiced concern.
Some assent was murmured.

Whom to trust?
Who could know
just what that meant:
Expert?

People are so ungrateful,
it's quite hard on Chairmen.

Directors of Planning must be given
the right to make Plans.
Just as, say,
the woodworm
must bore.

So too,
Advisers must
Advise.
